Grown with soul in the heart of the Atlantic

Rifte Café

Flores Island, Azores, Portugal

Our Story

We are Nina and João, a Franco-Portuguese couple who, in 2014, fell in love with coffee cultivation on the island of Flores, in the Azores.

Since then, we have turned this interest into a sustainable project, where we cultivate coffee plants with dedication and deep respect for nature.

Coffee plants at the Westernmost Point of Europe

We grow Arabica coffee on Flores Island, at the westernmost point of Europe, where the Atlantic, volcanic soils and the rhythm of nature shape each plant.

Rifte Café plantations are spread across the island, with a stronger presence in the Fazenda area, in Lajes das Flores, in the southeast of the island. Between 5 and 300 metres above sea level, each location has its own microclimate, giving rise to a truly unique coffee.
